Bright Smiles dental treatment
Children receive much needed dental care thanks to Dental Corporation and Bright Smiles days
A national pilot program, Bright Smiles, was recently launched by Colgate® to tackle the dental health problems of children in need in communities around Australia. As part of the program, 26 children from local charities received free dental treatment from the team at Active Dental, led by Dr David Moffet and part of Dental Corporation, during a special treatment day held at the dental practice in Parramatta on Saturday 7th February.
Organised in partnership with The Salvation Army and Barnardos, the Colgate-sponsored ‘Bright Smiles’ program links volunteer dentists with children in need. The program also educates the community about ways to prevent dental disease through better brushing and improved oral care. The team at Active Dental believe it’s a very valuable program. “It’s great to be able to give something back to the community”. The kids feel so special and the team at Active Dental got a buzz from seeing their smiles light up and “making a real difference”.
“It’s a win, win!” said Dr David Moffet. As part of the Bright Smiles program, an educational video has also been produced by Colgate which teaches parents how to properly care for their children’s teeth. Presented by Play School presenter Brooke Satchwell, parents can watch this video on YouTube.com by typing in the search term ‘Bright Smiles Education Video’. Dr Barbara Shearer, Colgate Scientific Affairs Manager commented that, “Parents can set a good example for their kids by looking after their own oral health. By brushing twice daily, flossing and regularly visiting a dentist, some dental problems that people experience can be avoided.
