Non Executive Directors
Hisham is responsible for leading the Bupa Health Services business. This includes subsidiaries providing dental, optical, health coaching and medical assessment services to over 1,000,000 people across 240 locations.
He joined Bupa as Chief Financial Officer in 2008 where he played a key role in the integration of MBF and the acquisition and establishment of a number of new subsidiary health companies. As Director of Strategy and Development, Hisham subsequently ran these companies as an emerging business portfolio, in addition to leading the strategy, mergers & acquisitions and business development functions for Bupa in Australia and New Zealand between 2011 to June 2014.
Prior to joining Bupa Hisham was CFO of department store, Myer. Over the past 30 years, he has held senior executive roles in a variety of industries including retail, energy, aviation and construction.
His qualifications include a Bachelor of Economics and Master of Business Administration. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a director of children’s charity, Very Special Kids, and a number of Bupa companies.
Dr Bill O'Reilly (Dentist)
Non-Executive DirectorConjoint Associate Professor, Dr Bill O’Reilly brings with him an invaluable wealth of experience and expertise in the field of dentistry and the health care industry as a whole.
As well as holding the position of Non-Executive Director of Dental Corporation, Bill sits on the National Australia Bank National Advisory Council, on the Medical Advisory Panel for BUPA Australasia, is Chairman of Employers Mutual Limited, is the Independent Chairman of the Work Injury Research Foundation, is a Director of Hotel Employers Mutual and is a Director on the Board of the Motor Neurone Disease Association of Australia.
Bill’s clinical career has included private dental practice, service with the Royal Australian Navy and Manchester Unity Australia. Bill served two terms as the President of the Australian Dental Association NSW Branch and as the President of the National Australian Dental Association. In 2012 he was appointed the President of the Dental Council of NSW. He is the President of the Commonwealth Dental Association and has chaired three of the standing committees of the Federation Dentaire Internationale in Geneva Switzerland, the World Dental Federation. Additionally, Bill has been admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
This unique mix of high level clinical skills, a legal background and corporate experience has allowed Bill to understand the unique relationship that exists in Australia between health care providers, insurance providers and patients in the provision of health services.
Andrew has 26 years of food FMCG experience in Unilever, Cadbury Schweppes and Premier Foods with 11 years living and working in Europe and the USA. Andrew has been at Bupa for nearly 4 years. In this time he has been the UK Health Insurance FD and up to January this year was the Commercial and Finance Director for the UK Market Unit where he worked to create a single operating unit and drive improvement in operating performance. He has recently been appointed Finance and Commercial Director for Australia and New Zealand, Bupa's largest Market Unit. Andrew has operated at senior levels in all companies including Group Finance Director of Premier Foods.
Andrew’s finance skills cover factory finance, commercial finance, internal audit, IT implementations, shared services, treasury and corporate finance. This experience includes working with banks, pension schemes and investors as well as boards of public companies .
Dr Dwayne Crombie
Dr Crombie has led Bupa Care Services in New Zealand since 2006. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and a Diploma in Community Health from the University of Otago and maintains his current annual practising certificate and is a Fellow of New Zealand Public Health Medicine College. He also has an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Auckland.
Formerly Chief Executive Officer of Waitemata Health and the Waitemata District Health Board, Dr Crombie has extensive senior leadership experience across New Zealand’s public health sector.
